Comparing two stress imaging methods
Comparing two stress imaging methods
I spent 6 months researching imaging methods in the MSMP (Mechanics, Surfaces, and Materials Processing) laboratory at Ecole Nationale d'Arts et Métiers, in Aix-en-Provence.
I started with 4 samples of Tungsten, which were sand-blasted to introduce residual stress, and heat-treated to homogenise the grain structure.
They were then observed using 2 methods:
X-ray diffraction (XRD)
Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD)
